Philadelphia PA Mission Base
Mission Bases Home
AIM has a missions center in one of the darkest parts of inner
city Philadelphia. Take your youth, college or adult group on a
missions trip to the inner city of Philadelphia. At the Adventures
In Missions' Philadelphia Ministry Center, you'll see your group
members seek out and bring hope to the down-and-out. In the process,
they'll learn what it means to minister as Jesus did. They'll grow
as a group and as ministers as they're asked to step out of their
comfort zone and step out on faith.
The Philadelphia Ministry Center is nested in the Kensington
neighborhood of Philadelphia where families, businesses and
ministries coexist with those in need. While many churches in this
neighborhood have had to close their doors, God has used AIM to keep
the doors of a church building in the heart of this needy area open
to the community. Children from the neighborhood, hungry for
attention, eagerly wait outside the doors of the Ministry Center,
hoping for the chance that one of the missionaries with either come
out to play or else let them in.
Just up the street and around the corner on Kensington Avenue,
homeless people receive daily meals. Hookers ply their trade all
hours of the day. Addicts gather together in community -- some
passing the days sitting on milk crates and playing cards, others
struggling to stay clean for one more day as they gather for an AA
meeting. Each of these people, like you and me, have a life story to
tell. They live in a world crying out for the hope that you can
bring in Christ.
The Philadelphia Ministry Center is run by the Next Step staff
and the First-Year
Missionaries. As radically committed followers of Jesus, these
staff members and the First-Year Missionaries have been called to a
ministry of healing and reconciliation.
In addition, the setup staff who live and work in Philadelphia
will plug you into a variety of ministry opportunities with local
ministry partners to challenge you in ministries including Vacation
Bible School, construction, feeding ministry, and evangelism.
